GSTR-2B vs purchase register reconciliation

Match the ITC in your GSTR-2B against your purchase register, invoice by invoice, and see what is missing, mismatched or at risk, supplier by supplier.

Your files are read in this browser and never uploaded.

1Choose the two files

GSTR-2B

JSON downloaded from the GST portal, the GSTR-2B Excel (.xlsx), or its B2B sheet saved as CSV.

or drop the file here

Purchase register (books)

CSV or .xlsx export from Tally or any accounting software, one row per invoice.

or drop the file here

Old Excel .xls files are not supported: open them in Excel and save as .xlsx or CSV. Record credit notes in books with negative amounts or in brackets (positive ones are compared as negative when GSTR-2B has a matching credit note).

How it matches

  1. By supplier GSTIN and invoice number, after tidying the number: capitals, no spaces, slashes, hyphens or dots, and no leading zeros. So INV/0012 matches inv-12.
  2. If that fails, by the number ignoring year tags such as 2024-25, 24-25 or FY.
  3. If that fails, by the same supplier and invoice date with the total tax within the tolerance: shown as a probable match to confirm.
  4. Matched invoices are compared head by head (IGST, CGST, SGST/UTGST, cess). Any head off by more than the tolerance is an amount mismatch.
  5. Credit notes count as negative. Rows in books with the same GSTIN and invoice number are flagged as duplicates and added together. Rows with no tax are ignored.
  6. Documents GSTR-2B marks as ITC not available are listed separately and left out of the GSTR-2B ITC totals.

This is a working aid, not advice. Check flagged items against the invoices and the GST portal before claiming or reversing ITC.
